Stripping and waxing vinyl flooring or VCT is very essential at some point. However you will also need to understand how often this has to be done. Flooring comes in different types and hence the needs of each one is different. One of the best techniques is waxing and stripping the flooring at least once in twelve months. This procedure may need to be followed twice a year for certain grades of flooring. Stripping and waxing is very necessary to increase longevity and to add to the real value of the flooring buffing at high speeds once in a month is essential.

Some of the flooring options like the VCT flooring may have foot traffic that is quite high. This increases the need for buffing once in seven days, to maintain a better sheen. Recoating and scrubbing needs to also be addressed between waxing and stripping the flooring! It is not as if only old VCT floors need this extensive treatment; even the brand new ones need to undergo the protocol. A factory sealer from the manufacturer of the VCT tiling usually comes with the kit, but withstanding high traffic is difficult for this sealer. Mopping and sweeping is very necessary for the flooring to prevent marring and scratches.
It is best to use neutral cleaners and preferably cold water. Avoid hot water completely as the wax could virtually come out when exposed to heat. For mopping the flooring it is advised to avoid use of harsh cleaners as this could damage the floor instead of cleaning it. Cleaning products that are ammonia or bleach based could get the wax stripped off the VCT floor completely. Just plain water will also suffice if neutral cleaners are not available.
Later on a neutral cleaner can be used. If you are not personally looking after the maintenance of the floor, you will need to ensure that the janitorial provider follows the right procedure for VCT stripping and waxing the flooring. If proper care is taken the flooring can last you for a good four decades at least and shine as if new throughout!
