A paycheck may be a great motivator for a person to work and give in their hard work. After all everyone has to pay the bills. But its not always that we only seek compensation in the place we go to work everyday. In fact , many people who only seek money as a prime motivator in their trade or profession may suddenly feel crowded out by other colleagues and peers who also bring a deep sense of purpose to their work.

It doesn’t discount the fact that by and large, money is the biggest incentive why people work. But there are other facets that bring in job satisfaction as well that may be entirely opposite of materialistic rewards.

Frankly, the non monetary incentives for which people work is quite extensive and subjective, because each and every individual have their own positive or negative disposition towards things.

Some may put a high value on being proximate to the places of where they work where they don’t have to make long arduous commutes, some may find the the amount of freedom and creativity afforded to them by their profession may also go a long way in motivating them to work harder, while for some free medical insurance or the use o the company vehicle may also go a long way in making them committed to the organization.

But by and large employees list recognition for their efforts as the prime non monetary motivator in bringing their best efforts to work. Companies aware of this need of employees to be recognized have been holding Corporate Awards for their staff.

These Recognition awards may sometime fuel competition among employees to perform better as well. But by and large such displays of gratitude toward employees goes a long way in enhancing their performance rather than increase company conflicts.
